The Washington County Health Department said it had received and given first doses of the COVID-19 vaccines for 1,000 people who fit in the Phase 1B
The health department said it is now giving second dose as outlined in the Illinois Vaccination Plan. WCHD Administrator Elizabeth Lehde said in a press release that the department has been told that supply is expected to increase in the coming weeks.
“We have worked diligently and continuously over the last ear to serve the people of Washington County, including working long hours, holidays and weekends, and will continue to do so over the next several months. Many things are outside of our control, and your continued patience is appreciated as we move forward in the coming months.”
Lehde also said the health department is working on its roster of names that were collected on or before Jan. 14, and there is hope that the department will be able to move more quickly through its list in the near future.
On March 3, WCHD reported two new COVID-19 cases, a female in her 20s and a male in his 40s. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported the 28th death from the county, a man in his 60s.
