Authorities recovered the body of a missing man Sunday morning in the pond behind the Best Western hotel on the west side of Centralia.
Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson said police were called to the hotel at 10 a.m. for the report of a missing or endangered person. Family had told police that they had not heard from the man, who was a guest at the hotel, since Friday evening. The man was last seen waking toward the pond and his jacket was found nearby.
After a 45 minute search, a subject was found beneath the water, and family members positively identified the body as the man who was reported missing.
Investigators from the Clinton County Sheriff’s office and the Clinton County Coroner also responded. No foul play is suspected at this time, and the identity of the deceased has not been released.
