A 74-year-old man was airlifted from the scene of an accident south of Nashville Thursday morning, according to police. The Okawville man would later die at St. Louis University Hospital from injuries sustained in the accident.
Benjamin W. Meier was reportedly headed northbound on Illinois Route 127 near Connecticut Road at 10:23 a.m. when the semi-trailer he was driving left the road and crashed into a deep embankment, according to the state police. The reason why the semi veered off the highway is not known at this time.
