Hornets outpower Wesclin

A couple of heavy hits early helped propel the Nashville Hornets over the Wesclin Warriors at home, 8-2.

Boomer Harris hit a home run to lead off the second and put Nashville in the lead. Gavin Baldwin hit a two-RBI double to add to the score in the third inning. The Hornets deepened the lead after another Harris two-RBI single in the fifth and Cole Malawy’s sacrifice fly and Baldwin’s single RBI in the sixth.

Other Hornets with hits in the game include Zach Kempfer and Nolan Heggemeier.

Harris was also the winning pitcher, hurling for six innings. Wesclin was scoreless until the top of the seventh.

The Hornets plays Pinckneyville at home Friday and will have a double header this Saturday, playing both Edwardsville and Triad at Edwardsville.
