The Southern Illinois Coaches Association has selected its 2020 All-South team, and several Nashville players made the cut.
The Hornets were well represented by on the list with seven selections, including seniors Cole Malawy, Nick Miller and Jaxson Goforth and juniors Isaac Turner, Evan Knolhoff, Wyatt Kwiatkowski and Kade Ridgeway.
Nashville went 5-1 on the season, securing its conference championship for the first time since 2010. The team has the second most total rushing yards (1,846) and second most total passing yards in school history.
Malawy holds the school record for the most total career yards with 5,468, shattering the previous record held by Hunter Schultze (3,982). He also holds the school record for passing offense with 5,346 yards. The previous record holder was Andrew Kash with 3,177.
Malawy also holds the school record for most accounted for touchdowns in school history (62). In 2019, he had the most touchdowns in a season with 34. He was on track to shatter that record this year — with the shortened season, Malawy still ranked sixth for his 2020 touchdowns (23), a record tied with Kash and Justin Morris.
Three Hornets from the 2020 team are also the top receivers in Nashville history. Turner has 1,615 yards for the record with Miller having the second highest tally with 1,527. Goforth is the fourth most in school history with 1,145 yards. The trio also hold the school records for receiving touchdowns with Turner and Miller tied in first with 18 and Goforth with 17.
Goforth has the school record for most touchdowns in a game with the three that were scored against Carterville this season. The record is tied with other Hornet greats: Morris (1999), Josh Povolish (1996) and Joel Thorson (1986).
Knolhoff was awarded the Tackle Award for the most tackles during the season.
