A third inning rally uplifted the Nashville Hornettes to beat the Collinsville Kahoks at home, 15-8.
Nashville pulled further ahead in the fourth after Colleen Jahnke hit a solo home run to begin the inning. An explosive fifth inning saw several hits for the Hornettes, including back-to-back doubles by Cayla Krueger and Valerie Combs and another double from Jahnke. By the end of the inning, Nashville was up 13-5.
Emily Guest also hit a home run in the sixth, while singles by Korbi Rhine, Lauren Rapp and Allison Maschhoff added to the score.
The win marks the 14th victory in a hot streak that could bode well as the team gears up for the postseason. Nashville (21-3) will finish up regular season play on Tuesday at home versus Goreville. The Hornettes are the second-seeded team in their regional, and they will play the winner of the Fairfield/Belleville (Althoff-Catholic) game on Friday.
