Another powerful performance from Nashville hitters propelled the Hornettes over the Fairfield Mules in five innings on Thursday, 12-1.
Nashville gained momentum during the first and second innings, batting through their order and scoring eight runs in the process.
The Hornettes had a total of 15 hits during the win. Whitley Hunter went two for three with a home run and a double. Valerie Combs also had a home run and a double, and Josie Woodrome had an inside the park home run and a single. Jordan Donato went four for four with three singles and a double, and Jill Kuhl hit two doubles.
Hunter pitched all five innings and allowed one run. She also had 10 strikeouts, six of which were accomplished in the last two innings.
Next up in postseason action, the Hornettes (22-3) host the next round and will play Columbia on Friday at 4:30. The Eagles are ranked third in the regional, and they advanced after knocking off Flora, 4-2.
