The Nashville Hornettes continued to rock and roll, shutting out Columbia on Friday 15-0 at home to win the regional championship in four innings.
Nashville jumped out to an early lead, scoring five runs in the first and six in the second. Ryan Stiegman was three for three on the day with a two-RBI double in the first, a single RBI in the second and another single in the fourth. Cayla Krueger was also three for three in the victory with a two-RBI double in the first, a single RBI in the second and another two-RBI double in the fourth.
Josie Woodrome opened up the third inning with a leadoff homer. She also had a single in the second. Other hits include a two-RBI double by Whitley Hunter, a single by Jordan Donato, a double from Emme Paszkiewicz and a double from Colleen Jahnke.
Defensively, the Hornettes were equally as stellar. Jordan Donato caught a would-be home run shot by the Eagles’ Ava Khoury, keeping it from just going over the fence.
The Hornettes move on to sectionals on Tuesday, playing against the winner of the Alton (Marquette) and Gillespie game on Saturday.
Regional Championship: Nashville 15, Columbia 0
