A squad from Nashville Community High School’s sprint and relay team made history once again this year, taking home top prizes at the Class 1A State track and field meet.
The 4×100 relay team won first place in the State 2A competition Thursday at Eastern Illinois University and then later earned top prize for the 4×200 race.
Shelby Thorson, Karmen Reynolds, Talanie Kozuszek and Halle Rueter received a 49.87 score, besting Maroa-Forsyth’s 50.79. The 4×200 winning finish clocked in at 1:45.42, a whole three second ahead of their best time all season.
The Hornettes arrived at the finals with the second-best time in the state.
