Nashville softball players make All-South team

More postseason recognitions were announced this week as the Southern Illinois Coaches Association released its All-South teams, where four Hornettes were listed.

Seniors Whitley Hunter and Josie Woodrome and sophomores Colleen Jahnke and Valerie Combs placed on the Division 2A team. Each of these players put up big numbers all season for Nashville.

According to stats compiled by MaxPreps, Hunter batted .464 this season with 85 plate appearances. She had 28 hits, including 10 doubles, three triples and six home runs. As a pitcher, Hunter went 4-1 with an ERA of 2.64.

Woodrome hit .462 on average with 85 plate appearances. She led the team in total hits with 36 hits. She hit 12 doubles and 8 home runs this year and had a total of 37 RBIs. On the mound, Woodrome went 10-2 with an ERA 2.47.

Jahnke slugged .438 on average this season and connected for 32 hits. Those hits included 12 doubles and five home runs. She also brought in 31 RBIs this spring.

Combs finished this season with a batting average of .360. She had 31 hits, including 15 doubles, one triple and four home runs, and had 34 RBIs.
