Hornettes hand out softball awards

The Nashville Hornettes softball team passed out awards from its 2021 season.

Josie Woodrome was named the MVP. She also earned the highest batting average at .477. According to MaxPreps, Woodrome hit .462 on average with 85 plate appearances. She led the team in total hits with 36 hits. She hit 12 doubles and 8 home runs this year and had a total of 37 RBIs. On the mound, Woodrome went 10-2 with an ERA 2.47.

Whitley Hunter received Top Offensive player. She hit .424 on average during the 2021 season, with 25 total hits. Those hits included 10 doubles, three triples and six home runs.

Valerie Combs and Jordan Donato shared the Co-Defensive player awards. Combs had a fielding percentage of .990 while Donato averaged .929 during the season.

Emme Paszkiewicz was honored with Most Improved. Paszkiewicz hit .356 and had a .857 fielding percentage.

Allison Maschhoff was named the Hornettes Award.

The Hornettes closed out a stellar spring season with a 24-5 record and were 8-2 in conference. A couple of highlights include nabbing its 800th win in program history and a 15-game winning streak.
