Nashville won big with several show-stopping plays from its seniors during their first home game Friday as the Hornets trounced the Wesclin Warriors 42-8.
Nashville was bolstered by a heavy scoring first half. The first touchdown came within the first minute of play. Senior Connor Gladson ran in for a five-yard score at 11:19 in the first quarter.
The Hornets would find the end zone twice more that quarter with touchdowns from Gladson, senior Isaac Turner and a 44-yard run from senior Ian Blazier as time expired.
The second quarter saw more Hornet domination. Gladson would run for a touchdown at 9:01, followed by another from senior Ben Reid at 6:04. Blazier’s second big run of the night was a 42-yard sprint to make the score 42-0 with 3:39 before the half.
Wesclin would answer back in the third quarter with a touchdown and 2-point conversion.
Sophomore Eduardo Garibay went perfect with 6 for 6 in field goal attempts.
The defense also had big plays, including an interception from senior lineman Josh Bruns near the end of the second quarter.
Nashville (2-1) will begin conference play at home on Friday, Sept. 17, against Anna-Jonesboro.
