Hornettes on a hot streak

The Nashville Hornettes easily won their first conference match against Anna-Jonesboro, extending their winning streak to 9.

Nashville downed A-J, 25-6, 25-6. According to MaxPreps, senior Hazel Konkel led the team with 7 kills and junior Reese Varel slammed down four. Senior Talanie Kozuszek had two aces in the contest.

The Hornettes are also perfect this year in tournament play, recently winning the Benton Rangette tournament last weekend for the first time in several years. The girls also won the SIRR preview tournament in Carterville last month.

Nashville has also topped the SICA regional coaches poll since the preseason.

More SIRR conference play is on the horizon. Nashville (16-1, 1-0) plays an away game at Carterville on Tuesday, Sept. 21. The next home game is against Pinckneyville on Thursday, Sept. 23.
