The NCHS Marching Hornets Band won best general effect and best color guard at the O’Fallon competition last Saturday. The band finished second in class the best they ever had at the competition, less than a point behind Monticello who was named third in the nation for the last three years. The Okawville Wheat Festival opened on Friday and continues through Sunday. A parade through the Main Street will be held Sunday at 2 p.m.
NCHS has announced on the school’s site the 2021 Homecoming theme. “Houston We Have A Homecoming” will be held Oct. 4-8, and the intergalactic theme days include Stargazing on Monday, Oct. 4; Time Machine Day on Tuesday, Oct. 5; Cowboys vs. Aliens on Wednesday, Oct. 6; Color Day on Thursday, Oct. 7; and Spirit Day on Friday, Oct. 8. The.Homecoming parade will be also be Oct. 8. The Homecoming Dance is set for Saturday, Oct. 9.
The Centralia Business and Professional Women’s Club has opened applications for this year’s Woman and Boss of the Year. The winners will be presented during the annual BPW Week from Oct. 17-23. Deadline for applications is Oct. 1.
