After splitting conference games last week, the Nashville Hornettes remain the number one ranked team, according to the latest Deep South Volleyball Coaches’ poll.
Last week, the Hornettes dominated Carterville, winning 25-14 and 25-19. Hazel Konkel led in attacks with 14 kills.
The Hornettes battled out a close one at home against conference foe Pinckneyville but ended up losing the thriller of a match, 18-25, 26-24 and 21-25.
Hazel Konkel had 14 kills and four blocks in the contest, while Kirsten Twenhafel had nine kills and Reece Varel finished with seven kills and four blocks. Talanie Kozuszek went in for 10 service points, and Emily Schnitker had 27 assists.
Nashville (17-2, 2-1) travel for two conference matches this week — one against DuQuoin on Tuesday and at Anna-Jonesboro on Thursday.
