Nashville PD arrest three over the weekend on drug charges

The Nashville Police Department made three arrests over the weekend on various drug charges.

The Nashville PD stated on its Facebook page that at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday, an officer made a traffic stop in the 600 block of South Mill Street, making contact with a 43-year-old male driver from Murphysboro and a 34-year-old female passenger from DeSoto. The female was found to have 70 capsules of suspected fentanyl, several other controlled substances, drug paraphernalia as well as active warrants in Williamson and Perry counties.

The driver was also detained after it was discovered that he had a small amount of suspected fentanyl in his possession. When they were transported to the Washington County Jail, the female passenger was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Nashville police made a separate arrest at 8:30 a.m. this morning after responding to reports of a man passed out in a parking lot in the 1600 block of South Mill Street. A 44-year-old man from Nashville was identified and then after the search, police found suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, additional controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. Police arrested the man and transported him to the Washington County Jail where he was charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of meth.

“Our office is constantly striving to keep these drugs off our streets and out of our community,” the Nashville police said.

No further information will be released at this time. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

According to online court records, as of Tuesday night, the following charges have been filed in Washington County Court:

  • Matthew Jacobs, 43, Murphysboro, charged with possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony.
  • Shannon Jones, 34, DeSoto, charged with possession of a controlled substance
  • Gabriel T. Shubert, 44, Nashville, charged with possession of less than five grams of meth, a Class 3 felony, and possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony.
