COVID Counts: Washington County reports new cases, death

The Washington County Health Department stated Monday that a resident has died of COVID-19 complications.

The resident — a man in his 70s — is the 33rd death in the county, officials said.

WCHD also reported three new positives, which included one resident in their 30s, one in their 50s and one in their 70s.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, Washington County is considered an “orange” area, or one of substantial risk of transmission. The county reported a 3.5 percent test positivity rate for the week of Oct. 3 with 602 tests performed. The lower rate continued through Oct. 14.
