Nashville Middle School Student Council’s “Penny Wars” was held in September and featured Students want to collect pennies for their homeroom and bomb other classes with silver coins and paper money.
The class with the greatest positive total won a Dairy Queen party. “Penny Wars” ended on Friday, September 24 and the proceeds will be donated to Sarah Taylor. She and husband Tom have a son, Ben, in fifth grade and a daughter, Charlotte, in third grade.
A total of $6,557 was raised for the Taylor family.
Trinity St. John Lutheran School held its first week of Penny Wars this week in an effort to raise money for Deb Lange, who is about to undergo transplant surgery for a new heart and liver. The amount raised in week one was $2,033.27.
The war continues through Nov. 1.
