Hornettes advance to regional championship, takes two over Sparta

The Nashville Hornettes earned their 30th victory this season as the girls moved on in the postseason, winning in two over Sparta Tuesday night, 25-17, 25-13, at Red Bud.

Nashville jumped off to early starts in both matches and were able to keep the momentum even as the Lady Bulldogs pulled in closer.

According to MaxPreps, Hazel Konkel led the team in attacking with 13 kills while Kirsten Twenhafel added six and Talanie Kozuszek hit four.

Emily Schnitker got her 200th service point of the year during the second match. Nashville also earned 6 aces in the two contests, bettering their average

Nashville will take on Columbia in the regional championship on Thursday beginning at 6 p.m.

The Lady Eagles won over host Red Bud in three matches, 22-25, 25-18 and 25-13. The team is 20-14 overall and finished third in the Cahokia Mississippi conference.
