The Washington County Health Department reported 13 cases since late last week, including an additional death from COVID complications.
The 34th death of.a county resident was a male in his 70s. On Friday, the WCHD reported 8 new cases: one resident in his or her 20s; three in their 30s; one in his or her 50s; and three in their 60s.
On Monday, the department announced three new cases: a resident in his or her 20s; a resident in his or her 50s; and a resident in his or her 70s.
According to The Illinois Department of Public Health, Washington County is considered an area of substantial transmission. During the week of Oct. 17, the test positivity rate was reported as 3.5 percent with 405 tests conducted.
