One local man injured after two-vehicle accident on interstate exit ramp

A Hoyleton man was transported to an area hospital after injuries sustained in a semi-truck and car accident on U.S. Route 51 on Wednesday evening.

According to WMIX, Ricky True, 67, of Irvington was driving a 2019 Kenworth semi-truck and trailer north on Route 51 at 7 p.m. when he had attempted to turn left on the Interstate 64 westbound on-ramp. During the same time, Jason Everett, 36, of Hoyleton was traveling south on Route 51 in a 2017 Ford pickup truck.

According to police, True turned into the path of Everett’s truck and caused it to strike the passenger side of the semi truck.

Everett was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of injuries. WMIX reported that True was cited for failure to yield while turning left.
