Both of the involved drivers were killed in a head-on collision on US Route 50 on Tuesday afternoon.
According to WJBD, the Illinois State Police said in a statement that a vehicle driven by Tracy Loyd, 51, of Okawville was traveling eastbound on Route 50 at 12:42 p.m. just east of St. Rose Road when the vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a westbound vehicle driven by Michael Brown, 20, of Trenton. Police also say that Brown’s vehicle caught fire after the accident.
Loyd and Brown were pronounced dead at the scene by the Clinton County coroner’s office. Traffic was closed for about three hours after the accident. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
