It’s Friday, and a special day with the opening of several December favorites.
The first-ever Lighted Christmas Parade stepped off this evening, and lots of people packed the Main Street. We will be posting a separate gallery and story later this weekend.
The Blue Room has won the online contest, making it the December “Best Dive Alive,” according to Bi-State Entertainment.The YouTube show will be paying them a visit in the near future.
Washington County Animal Control reported a busy day Friday, responding to more than 150 messages in a day. An anonymous sponsor agreed to pay the adoption fees for pets from the shelter through Dec. 6.

Washington County Historical Society announced earlier this week that it has received assistance from donations and two grants from the Illinois Humanities, which will be used for necessary maintenance and keeping the museums operating.
