Happy Friday! Here is a bit of good news from the last week:
Marian McCord, co-Founder and Executive Director of CHADS Coalition for Mental Health, was selected as a 2021 L’Oreal Paris Women of Worth. This award recognizes women who are making an extraordinary difference in the world! McCord, who is originally from Okawville, along with the other nine Women of Worth from the USA.
All of their agencies will be featured on a one-hour NBC Prime Time Special on Thursday Dec 16 at 7pm! Marian says in a Facebook post that she feels “so honored, humbled and blessed!”
Nashville’s Hazel Konkel has been named the Southern Illinoisan’s Volleyball Player of the Year. She is the third Hornette to win the title after Britany Pelczynski in 2004 and Jordi Harre in 2014.

Nashville Middle School will be holding a Christmas Spirit Week where students can dress up each day leading up to the last school day of the semester on Friday. Sponsored by the Student Council, the special week schedule is
The Student Council is also sponsoring a Christmas Spirit Week the week of December 13th – 17th. Each day is a different dress up day.
Monday – Polar Express Day – wear your PJ’s
Tuesday – Santa/Elf Day
Wednesday – Color Day – each grade level wear a different Christmas color
8th Grade – white
7th Grade – Green
6th Grade – Red
5th Grade – Yellow
Thursday – Ugly Christmas Sweater/Shirt Day
Friday – Christmas Shirt Day
There are several opportunities to give blood before the end of the year. Washington County Blood Drives include at St. Ann’s School on Monday, Dec. 13, at the American Legion in Nashville on Dec. 20, and Washington County Hospital on Dec. 30 and Jan. 4.
