COVD Counts: Health Dept. reports 51 new cases

The Washington County Health Department announced the reporting of 51 new COVID-19 cases between Dec. 14-20.

The cases included one who is less than 1 year old; one who is between 1 and 5 years old; four between 6 and 10 years old; one between 11 and 15 years old; one who s between 16 and 19 years old; 10 in their 20s; six in their 30s; nine in their 40s; six in their 50s; seven in their 60s; and five in their 70s.

The reporting is the highest increase of single week cases in recent weeks. Last week, there were 41 new cases reported.

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting the entire state in a high transmission area. In Washington County, the test positivity rate increased to 13.36 percent.

The latest Region 4 metrics show an increase in the number of tests conducted. The 7-day test positivity rate up to Dec. 17 was 10.8 percent.
