Feel Good Friday: January 28

Welcome to Friday. Lots of good news packed right before the weekend.

Nashville Community High School announced its 2022 Posi-Teen Awards. This year’s recognitions include Trent Browne, Nolan Heggemeier, Lucas Knepp, Evan Knolhoff, Hazel Konkel, Dawson Kurwicki, Allison Maschhoff, Benjamin Reid, Halle Rueter and Trevor Silivan.

NCHS will be holding its NCHS Lifesavers Posi-Teen Week during the week of Jan. 31. The theme is “Strive for Progress, Not Perfection” and dress up days include Pajama Day (Monday), Dress Like A Senior Citizen (Tuesday), Country Club vs. Country “Dress to Impress in Your Best Country Attire (Wednesday), Meme Day (Thursday) and School Spirit Wear (Friday).

There will also be several events throughout the week.


Hazel Konkel was recognized for her selection to the first team All-State volleyball team. The senior middle hitter finished with 905 kills, 366 blocks and 304 digs. She is pictured here with her father, Hornette Head Volleyball Coach Josh Konkel.


Revered educator Gene “Mr. A” Alexander will be remembered this Sunday during a ceremony at Benton Grade School Event Center, beginning with a visitation at 2 p.m. The celebration of life will begin at 3 p.m. and a bench dedication will start at 3:30 p.m.

A bench with a life-size bronze statue holding book has been constructed outside the grade school. According to his obituary, the local educator and veteran was known for his giving nature both inside and out of the classroom.
