Emergency personnel were called to the home of Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson and family on Saturday afternoon after reports of a fully involved blaze.
According to WJBD, the fire began at about 1:24 p.m. in the garage of the home, located at 634 Oakdale. No one was home at the time of the fire. Dodson had reportedly just left about 10 minutes before a neighbor called the authorities.
The Centralia Fire Department and Centralia and Sandoval fire protection districts responded. An investigator for the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office was also reportedly on scene. Firefighters told WJBD that nothing seemed suspicious. No official cause has been released.
