A round of wintry precipitation started Wednesday afternoon and continued through the evening hours, prompting several closing for the next day.
Washington County and several other Southern Illinois counties were issued a winter storm warning effective until midnight Thursday. The National Weather Service predicted snow accumulations up to two inches, sleet accumulations around three quarters of an inch and ice accumulations amounting to about two tenths of an inch.
The storm impacted parts of south central and southwest Illinois as well as east central Missouri.
Nashville District 49, Nashville Community High School, Trinity St. John and St. Ann’s School in Nashville all closed school for Thursday, Feb. 24.
