Going Merry Scholarship Search:Going Merry (www.goingmerry.com) is a great new scholarship website.  It makes scholarship application easier.  Students can sign up at:  https://www.goingmerry.com/c/tesham-8nr3d  Going Merry is completely different from the older scholarship search engines.  It allows for:

  • Matching – Once students fill out their profile, they are automatically matched with scholarships they are most eligible for.
  • Direct Applications – Students can apply directly to multiple scholarships from the website.  They never need to leave the site.
  • Autofilled Applications – All of the information from students’ profiles are autofilled into each application, thus saving time.
  • Estimated Application Times – Every scholarship has estimated application time to help students prioritize them.
  • Scholarships Grouped By Essay Topics – Scholarships are grouped by common essay topics so students can minimize the number of essays they have to write

FAFSA:  One of the first steps of the college financial aid process is completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form.  The FAFSA enables students who qualify to receive federal/state grants, scholarships, as well as to participate in work-studies programs.  Information needed to complete the FAFSA: student’s driver’s license, student’s social security card, 2020 federal tax records for both the student and parents, records of untaxed income, and information regarding net worth of family and student assets.  The FAFSA form opened on October 1, 2021.  A new state law in Illinois requires all graduating seniors to submit the FAFSA or complete a FAFSA Nonparticipation Form.
